Sargam

Hindustani classical music is the foundation of any form of singing or instrumental music in any language from the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent – Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Pashto, Nepali, and others, whether it is Classical, Film Songs, Bhajans, Ghazals or Folk Songs. If you want to sing well, there is simply no substitute to methodically learning the basics of Sargam, Alankar, Raag, Aalaap, Taan and Taal.

Hindustani classical music has a long tradition of being taught and learnt face-to-face.
It’s crucial to understand that there are two distinct traditions of Classical music. The Hindustani (North India) and the Carnatic (South India) traditions. Both these traditions differ in style and approach; although, they might sound similar to the uninitiated ear.
Well, music academy like Riyaaz is gaining recognition for teaching Hindustani and Carnatic classical as well as Sufi songs.
